How to Get a Raise: What Not to Do

Initiating a conversation with your boss about a possible raise is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The thoughtfulness of your rationale and the thoroughness of your argument could not only determine whether you get more money, but it could also impact (positively or negatively) the way your boss sees you from that point on.

Jacqueline-it's definitely globalization at its finest. Whether adding a new call center is the type of job creation a country in an emerging market is looking for is probably a topic for future discussion.

Kangtoja-I know a lot of companies are operating under slim to no margins, but looking at this fast food chain, I guess I'm having a hard time understanding the business case from a cost standpoint only because they're already paying a cashier. Until they can outsource payment, they're going to absorb that cost anyway.

Thanks, Jae. You make some great points. There are definitely pros and cons to outsourcing and hopefully, in most cases, the pros win out for the business and the customer base.

A lot can be said about having people actually on site who can assist customers (especially if the there's ever a technology failure). When cash registers go out now, for example, most stores shut down because employees don't know how to process sales manually.
