I believe a feature-rich experience on the mobile phone is where the internet is heading. Just consider the unique functionality that could only work on a cell phone.

We're going to see a lot of things happen like it's 1999 all over again. These predictions from ars technica http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/looking-back-looking-forwards.ar... hit the nail on the head.

I think 2008 will be the year the traditional TV broadcast model and film distribution model all but dies... the new wave of technology is going to come together and smoke it. DVRs, download on demand content, PC-TV-Game Console-Mobile Device interconnection, consumer generated content... wow.

Advanced cell phone controls - everything from movies to turning on your house lights is a possibility, but WHAT LIES BEYOND THAT? Everything in a digital format, big freakin deal! 2008 is going to be the year of people. We are going to see innovation in bringing people together - not virtually, not via webcams or cell phones or SECOND LIFE. Somehow, at the end of the year, the slogan that best describes it will be "WE THE PEOPLE." The web will NOT be used as a place to engage but a place that is used as the medium for communications of getting people together - in a real place.
