What do you think of the Microsoft/Yahoo no deal?

On Saturday, I watched discussions about Microsoft and Yahoo on Friendfeed. It's a much different type of conversation structure -- an enitrely new way of looking at things. What do you think about it?

Microsoft is like a shark in the water and yahoo has given it a good swat on the nose but the bottom line is until Yahoo starts doing something more then just sitting in a raft on the internet sea that shark is just going to keep swirling around until it can bite them. Yahoo has expanded so much that it does nothing to take advantage of those it has already . MS is the same. It's all about the expansion not about the delivery mix this together, add a few billion dollars and you have ???? a Stinking Mess

As a Yahoo shareholder I'm upset that Yahoo has invested so much energy dodging Microsoft's generous offers rather than making Yahoo the great company it could have been either with or without MS. It's ironic Yahoo saw the promise of PPC after buying Overture.com, then left the huge PPC profits to Google. The Google ad deal may seal Yahoo's fate as the "also ran" of search, leaving the innovation and big money for Google. With MS they would have had a needed major change in focus and direction. Without a merger Yahoo is likely to continue to languish as the best folks leave for Google and startups and the worst become an entrenched bureaucracy.
